Carena Zoomex S
A very unique and well-made regular 8mm camera made in Leichtenstein.
TTL Auto Exposure
If you did some research on regular 8mm cameras, you would realize that auto exposure in most of them is controlled by an external meter. This is sometimes problematic because the intensity of the measured light could be different from the one that go through the lens. The error can be caused by a hand inadvertently covering the sensor or by a lens casting shadow on it. TTL metering system eliminates such errors by placing the sensor inside the camera housing where it can measure light that come through the lens. Zoomex S is one of the very few regular 8mm cameras equipped with this TTL auto exposure feature. In addition, you can also set the aperture manually. FYI, the earlier model Zoomex II is equipped with an external meter. That's one way of recognizing the models. |
Reflex Viewfinder with Aperture Scale
Reflex viewfinder is not as rare as TTL auto exposure. Nevertheless, it's not common feature either. And what makes Zoomex S stand out from others is that its viewfinder shows the aperture scale within. With this internal scale, you don't have to take your eye off the viewfinder to set the aperture. It's very bright too, compared to the mirror reflex on Camex.

Angenieux Zoom Lens
Zoomex S comes with Angenieux f. 6.5-52mm 1:1.8. Minimum focus distance is 0.8m. The lens is built-in (and not interchangeable), and it has a 4-blade star-shape aperture diaphragm. Zoomex II is supplied with either Angenieux f. 7.5-35mm 1:1.8 or Schneider Variogon f. 9-30mm 1:1.8. |

Unique & Ergonomical Design
| The spring is integrated in the grip. It can be wound by turning the grip in the direction of the red arrow in the photo (counterclockwise when the camera is seen from the top). Very well-balanced. In fact, this camera could be one of the best well-balanced cameras I've ever come across. Great for a hand-held work. |
