Eclair NPR Eclair NPR was a destination of a research I conducted to find a 16mm camera that meets the following criteria: sync sound, interchangeable lens, and variable shutter. There were actually very few that met the criteria. Namely, Aaton XTR Prod, Arriflex SR3, Arriflex 416 Plus, Eclair Cameflex, Eclair NPR and maybe one I've missed or two. The reason I chose NPR instead of the others was because I couldn't possibly afford them which are usually sold at more than a twice as much as NPR. But despite the low price, NPR has one advantage; it has the narrowest possible shutter angle (5°).
The Body The Mount Normally, NPR comes with CA-1 (Cameflex) and C mounts. With an appropriate adapter, you can use Arri-S and Arri-B mount lenses on the camera, although finding those adapters will be very difficult now. The CA-1 mount can be modified to PL mount. The photo above shows the camera with PL and C mount. Not the original CA-1 mount.
The Viewfinder The Shutter The shutter is variable from 5-180° in 5° degree increments. Actually it can be closed all the way to 0° but since the camera doesn't allow us to change the shutter angle while the film is running I would just say the minimum degree is 5°.
The Motor The motor is interchangeable. Here are some of the options.
Some of them are compatible with a speed controller such as TCS TCM Milliframe Controller.
