Kodak Ektar 25mm to 15mm Converter

Kodak Cine Ektar 25mm f/1.4 fitted with the Converter. As the name suggests, what it does is to convert the lens into wider 15mm.

Is it better than Ektar 15mm f/2.5? In a way, yes. The aperture is faster with the converted 25mm f/1.4, having the widest aperture at f/1.4.

But the converter casts additional yellowish tint on image which is already yellowish without the converter.

The markings on the top indicate converted focus distance and what are below show the scales before conversion. In other words, use the markings on the top for focusing when you put the converter.

For example, you want to set the focus at an object which is 12ft away from the focal plane. Find "12ft" on the top scale (which is on the front element side), and then read the number right next to it (rear element side). It says "30ft". Now, go to the focus scale on Ektar 25mm and set it at 30ft. Now the lens is focused at 12ft.

With this converter, the M.O.D. is 6" 3/8 (approx. 0.16m).

Even with the converter on, Ektar 25mm will still cover the Super 16 frame for the most part.

Like I said, however, it adds some nasty yellowish tint.
